Sketchbook #110: Treasures

These were found in my pockets, in my bag, on the beach and on my walks.

Sketchbook #110: Gouache and Persimmons

Sketchbook #110 (Kunst & Papier - Binderboard Sketch Book - 8-1/4" x 8-1/4") was made with very soft paper which was not very friendly to water media and to gouache in particular. Two lone persimmons were drawn in the sketchbook itself and the 4 mini paintings page is done on a Fabriano Fluid 140 lb / 300 gsm square block.

I keep my sketchbooks chronological but often draw on whatever paper is available at the moment (envelopes anyone?) or pick a paper that seems more fit for the task. And then I glue or tape these pieces into my main sketchbook - creating a fat and crazy looking sketchbook filled with collage of all kinds of things that happened to me.

Four tiny gouache paintings were done while Gaye Kraeger, Suhita Shirodkar and myself were working on the upcoming workshop - in which I will be showing some gouache tricks - to learn more about it check out: http://www.watercolorjournaling.com/events.htm

These treasures were found in my bag, on the glass beach, and in a nearby forest.
Oh and special note about the Chinese Pistachio Berries - somehow it took me a long while to ID them and I am super happy I did :)
