Illustration Friday: Sea


This week's topic is quite inspiring but no matter how many things I try I come back to the illustration I did some time ago for the "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel.

This is great - I'm guessing it's that strange carnivorous island he landed on!n I really like the colors and the strong brishstokes...this has a lot of energy (specially those poor fish trying to jump out of the water)!

Not all art is cheery and bubbly and this one, though a bit of a tragic scene (for the fish) is actually quite beautiful.

you are right, Carla, - it's the island that eats all - as if the sea was not eating all without it...

it's interesting that you see it cheery and bubbly, Steve, - such a bright colors disturbed me when I worked on this... :)
