We had a heat wave. I kept summoning fall weather with drawings of fall leaves and acorns and such. It definitely helped with expressing my feelings about the weather. Wishful drawing.

Little changes in the green.
I noticed a very slight shift in she shade of greens around me. So far, this summer was very nice. The hottest part of the year is still ahead of us - as we have at least two more month of summer weather. But on my walks I noticed that some greens are getting yellower.
This has nothing to do with this attempt to tackle a complex branch of oak leaves with acorns. At first I really did not like how I started this sketch but I kept going and looking and trying to connect some things and separate others. And then I noticed some little parts where I know that I paid attention. I am glad.
Oak leaves and acorns
I spent a few days obsessively playing with all sorts of oak leaves and acorns. The more I looked at them and the more varieties I found on my walks the more colors and textures I wanted to add to my collection.
Sketchbook #114 - Treasures
It's a tradition in out household - I collect things to look at and others make or find things for me too. Often people leave these little treasures on my table where they sometimes accumulate in layers and sometimes mix with books and pencils. Cleaning table is a tradition too. And drawing all these traditions is a great joy :)
Sketchbook #111: Treasures - Acorn Collection
There are many kinds of oak trees in California and I've been trying to learn about them for a while. This year my acorn collection grew and I'm going to take a more systematic approach and keep all acorns I collect from squirrels until I positively ID them :)
