Updating my gear :)

Getting pine needles out of my palette., a photo by apple-pine on Flickr.
I am washing, cleaning pine needles, sand and what looks like fuzz out of my palette.
Then topping wells that are showing heavy use and adding a few new colors. Spring cleaning! 
Above is my main palette - small Windsor&Newton and below is my tiny experimental one - from Maria Coryell-Martin.
 
Now there is this:

A few month ago I put a few pencils in my sketching pouch, and today I took out 48... Let's see if I can get back to... 12?

I think I made a mistake when I drew shapes of clouds here. But I like that purple hill and orange splashes. It was a beautiful day!

I saw how Richard Camara is using highlighters recently and decided to experiment a bit - it's a very very simple setup but very expressive!

Granted, skin tones are not too realistic but I love drawing people this way!

The End and The Beginning

Sketchbook #79 at a glance, a photo by apple-pine on Flickr.

This is a glance back at sketchbook #79 - it was fun, though I am ready for a beautiful 300 lb watercolor paper of my new Sketchbook :) It has a window in the cover and you can see my first page - sketched with the ink and new nib - to celebrate the return of sturdy paper and a nice round number 80 on the inside cover :)

January 2014: Working on a Project

This was drawn during a few days working on the project.  
Many books were taken form the library... many of them were useless... some were useful :)

 
Many interesting facts were discovered. 
 
Many hours of work... 

 
The grand finale (so far) was a mini sculpture of the Quetzalcoatlus :)
