The End and The Beginning

Sketchbook #79 at a glance by apple-pine
Sketchbook #79 at a glance, a photo by apple-pine on Flickr.
This is a glance back at sketchbook #79 - it was fun, though I am ready for a beautiful 300 lb watercolor paper of my new Sketchbook :) It has a window in the cover and you can see my first page - sketched with the ink and new nib - to celebrate the return of sturdy paper and a nice round number 80 on the inside cover :)

January 2014: Working on a Project by apple-pine
This was drawn during a few days working on the project. January 2014: Working on a Project
Many books were taken form the library... many of them were useless... some were useful :)

Many interesting facts were discovered.

Many hours of work...

The grand finale (so far) was a mini sculpture of the Quetzalcoatlus :)

When in doubt - draw what you see around you, empty your pockets and draw that too. By that time doubt is usually gone :)

January 2014: Treasures
The paper in this sketchbook continues to challenge my sense of understanding how to draw - mostly because sometimes I don't slow down before drawing. But when I do I get a very different feeling from it - as if we will be friends at the end :)

January 2014: Tree Cutters - Part 1

January 2014: Tree Cutters by apple-pine
I was supposed to work hard on a project but the sounds was too much - even through the ear plugs it was driving me crazy. So I turned to my sketchbook and recorded the process tree cutters went through hoping that I will get a bit of extension on the thing waiting for me at the computer.

Every page, every spread in this book is a bit of a surprise, sometimes - struggle as papers and ink combinations are so different that I am forced to either changing my tools every spread or sticking to the simplest pencil... So the year is not starting easy for me :) But I see the way through :)

And I got a Buddha Hand as a New Year present - lots of fun to draw! Too bad it got too moldy quickly :( I drew it numerous times - these are two I kept :)

This is resketch sketchbook - it's a kickstarter project to create sketchbooks from all sorts of paper leftovers. 7x9", lots of different papers, none are watercolor-friendly so far but I am taping in smaller pages with WC paper to compensate.
Fun, challenging and different - what else might you wish for the New Year?
