Every year on the third Thursday in May Ukrainians around the world celebrate a Vyshyvanka Day! Vyshyvanka is an embroidered shirt. There are as many kinds of vyshyvankas as there are recipes for borscht! And since I shared my borscht with you - here is me - celebrating this day. Embroidered shirts, kitchen towels, pants, jackets, vests, anything actually - are a proud Ukrainian tradition, an art form, a way to keep history and connect generations, not to mention that this is a wonderful way to mend things or hide a borscht spot on a shirt ;) In short - it is a way to show that you care.
